CLOSE THE GAP!

The pay gap between men and women in the Unites States has been a major problem in the world today. There is obviously a pay gap when it comes to different occupations, for example being a bank teller or being a brain surgeon but it has become a big problem when it comes to gender. The question that is begin asked most frequently is, “Why are men always being paid more than women?” Why is it that men always get the advantage over women? I think that is a really big problem considering that I am a female myself and I believe in fair treatment of everyone. I don’t think that its fair for women to be paid less especially when they are just as capable to perform the same task as men. I think it’s important to see the different factors that play a role in the pay gab.
Statistics have shown that in the past couple of years that women have been paid 79 percent of what men are being paid. This shows that there is a gap of 21 percent. Although there is a gap of 21 percent statistics show that the gap has actually lowered since the 1970’s. The number has lowered because of the educational opportunities and the job opportunities that have been given to women over the past years, but still the pay gap is nowhere near to being closed. The pay gap can be different in each state as well. For example, in recent years the pay gap in Washington D.C. women were paid 90 percent of what men are paid and in Louisiana women were paid 65 percent of what men are paid. Another thing that is a problem with the pay gap is race and ethnicity. Women of color have struggled with making a large amount of women compare to other races. Recent statistics shows that Hispanics, African Americans, and American Indian women have had lower median annual earnings compared to those who have a different ethnicity.

There are so many excuses as to why there is such a huge pay gap but honestly they aren’t really valid. Everyone that works should all have the equally opportunity and it shouldn’t be based on race or gender. There needs to be something done about this matter because it isn’t fair and it made lead to bigger problems in the future.

I NEED SCHOLARSHIPS!!!!!!!

Looking at the cost of college today, I will be needing all of the scholarships provided. The cost of education has reached an all-time high and it has become difficult for those struggling financially to attend their dream university. Many of them are left out in the cold because they afford the cost of education. The cost of education really hits hard for those in the middle class today, because although those in the middle class aren't poor they struggle in trying to afford college. Many people are able to receive sports scholarships and some even attend the military and then go to college in order to receive military benefits to afford college. But what about those students who don’t have these options? Many other students then have to depend on student loans which would later lead to more debt in the future. What needs to be done to make it easier for people today to afford college?

In this article economist try to compare the cost of education to inflation and health care. During a survey there was a chart that showed how the cost of education began rising from the late 1990’s to the 2000’s and then during 2014 it began to rapidly rise. The total inflation during this period of time was recorded to be 2.3%, health care had risen to 3.7%, and the education expenses rose to 5.2%. Many people are becoming concerned with how fast that the education cost is rising and it is predicted that if it keeps rising at the rate it is college tuition will be 65,000 dollars plus for in state public colleges and over 200,000 dollars for private institutions.

If the cost of college begins to increase many people are going to not attend college because they can’t afford it. This would only lead to more problems for the world because one education rates are going to fall and there would be lost wages. Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders wants to help in decreasing the college debt. If he becomes president, he hopes to make college free in order to help those that want to receive a great education but can’t afford it. If this is the case the problem, we would face is higher taxes in order to pay for college.
This is becoming a big problem and there needs to be something done in order to lower the cost of college. Everyone should have equal opportunity to attend the college they want to and not have to worry about the cost.

HOW LOW CAN IT GO?

China first now the United States?! Today the U.S. manufacturing sector has shrunk to an all-time low for the second month in a row. America’s economy's is influenced by other countries such as China. Over time the Chinese economy has rapidly began to dwindle slower than what the government would want and it seems as if the United States is not that far behind. In December the key index hit 48.2% which is the lowest it has been since June 2009. Once the key index hits anything lower than 50% it is considered a contraction. Many economists have become even more concerned at the news because a private sector on Monday showed that China’s factory sector has dwindled even more. Not only did China's factory sector dwindle but so did the DOW. The DOW fell 400 points a new low after the news of how low the ISM was. With the DOW falling it is clear that there is much work that needs to be done.

With this news many economists are becoming concerned and it is starting to affect businesses and factories. The factories are being affected because of the shutdown in China stopping trade and many other important things. Also the value of the American dollar is making it more difficult for foreign buyers to purchase certain products. The manufacturing in China has fallen within the last 77 months which is not good at all. With this news it is clear that China isn't receiving enough imports or that there isn't enough people to help get jobs done. With China's manufacturing fallen within the past couple of years it begins to slow down the process in other counties such as the United Stated and other countries that depend on this country. Manufacturing companies are really feeling the pain with this news. Manufacturing was rated one of the worst performing sectors in the economy. Manufacturing added new jobs towards the end of last year but slowly began to lose workers at the same time. If the manufacturing business begins to dwindle the U.S. economy is going to suffer even more which is not going to be great in the upcoming year.

With the new year starting I think that's it's really scary for the economy to be this bad. There needs to be something done and fast because if not I'm not sure what's going to happen with the economy. If we aren't able to get products from this country, it's just going to continue to dwindle the manufacturing companies that we have now. I feel that there will be a solution to this problem and we as Americans can only hope for the best.
